Jan. 12, 2026 — Hundreds of protesters reportedly killed in Iran over demonstrations against the regime’s decades-long rule.

Despite an internet blackout by the Iranian government, videos have surfaced showing security forces violently trying to suppress demonstrations. President Donald Trump has threatened military action in response.

Human rights groups have put the number of deaths during protests at least 599, with thousands reportedly detained.

Trump said his national security team is weighing its response to the brutal crackdown by the Islamic Republic, including cyberattacks and direct strikes by the U.S. or Israel.

The president told reporters on Air Force One Sunday night that they were weighing their options.
