February 11, 2026 — A San Francisco water-recycling company is drawing attention with an unusual new product.

Epic Cleantec has launched what it says is the first commercially sold beer brewed with recycled shower and laundry water. The beer, produced with Devil’s Canyon Brewing Company, began appearing in stores in late 2025, including locations in Oregon.

The water is collected from large residential buildings and treated with filtration, reverse osmosis, and UV disinfection before use in brewing.

Reaction online has been mixed. Under one news post, a commenter wrote, “That’s a hard no for me.” Another said, “If it’s safe and it tastes normal, I’d try it.”

Epic Cleantec says its goal is to spark conversation about water reuse as drought and water shortages worsen.
